Aviation Company Primera Air partners with Worldline to innovatively process its e-commerce transactions

Brussels, July 31 2018 – Primera Air, a fast-growing Nordic low-fare long-haul airline, selected e-commerce payment services and POS terminal solutions provider Worldline as its long-term partner for its end-to-end e-commerce solutions. Both parties reached an agreement on May 23rd, the collaboration officially taking off on May 29th. The efficient and advanced partnership with Worldline allows Primera Air to keep their costs as low as possible, supporting their low-cost strategy to the fullest, while extending and improving its passengers’ payment options.

Primera Air is a leisure airline that transported over a million passengers from Iceland, Denmark, Sweden and Finland to numerous Southern European destinations and back last year. In 2018, the airline started long-haul operations between the UK, France, the US and Canada with their brand new Airbus A321neo fleet. The low-cost company is the parent company of Primera Air Scandinavia and Primera Air Nordic, and a part of the Danish Primera Travel Group. 2017 was a record year for Primera Air: its revenue increased by 13.7%, thanks to its skyrocketing online direct sales (+125.8%).

Hrafn Thorgeirsson, CEO of Primera Air, says: "That steep rise in online direct sales made us look for a long-term and renowned partner for processing our e-commerce transactions. Worldline was the obvious choice and we reached an agreement on May 23rd. The implementation of Worldline’s innovative solutions within Primera Air’s payment systems came into force only six days later, on May 29th. We picked Worldline because their range of solutions meticulously matched our wishes. Our collaboration is off to a terrific start, thanks in parts to the extensive co-creation workshops Worldline set up in advance."
Vincent Roland, Managing Director of Worldline’s Merchant Services, says: "We’re thrilled to collaborate intensively with such a fast-growing company that meets the needs of its customers like no other. In the future, we want ‘Worldline’ to be top of mind as the e-commerce payment services partner of aviation companies when they’re discussing implementing innovative payment solutions."
